KITCHENS

Bucklands Beach

There are many ways to make a kitchen a conversation piece, but few would be as distinctive as this project.

Kitchen designer Nicola Cumming of Nicola Cumming Design says the owner loves the Art Deco look and wanted her kitchen to reflect this.

This kitchen was featured in Trends Magazine. For the full write up head to https://trendsideas.com/stories/art-deco-delight

Devonport

California Bungalow with a feature barrel ceiling.

The existing kitchen was too dark and not at all sociable for the indoor and out door entertaining areas. Access to the outside living was created from the kitchen area.

Space was taken from the large laundry behind to create the butlers pantry.

I used existing architectural features already in the home throughout the renovation, which included, two bathrooms, laundry, and the living area.

Dunedin

Build in Dunedin in 1906 for the family of the local brick manufacturing family.

In the 1940’s the home was converted into four apartments and stayed the way until my clients purchased the property with the intension of converting it back into the beautiful home that it once was.

The renovation was extensive, and care was taken especially with the kitchen, and every other detail in the house to respect the era of the building.

Eastern Beach

Right on the water at Buckland beach, they wanted the view to be the focus, and to be enjoyed.

A galley kitchen that has asymmetrical aspects. The two sides having different design details to create interest, re bench top thicknesses negative detail and toekicks heights.

Epsom Park

This kitchen and its adjacent living areas were substantially renovated by kitchen designer Nicola Cumming. What began as a kitchen project quickly grew to encompass a rethink of the greater space and a reflection of the clients’ cultural identity. Bringing in architect Bruce Campbell, who drew up the plans, Cumming created a more open living space removing strategic walls, closing off a laundry, inserting French doors adjacent to the kitchen and moving the dining area to a more formal setting at the rear of the space.

Greenlane

A simple, uncluttered look doesn’t always tell the full story, and in the kitchen, more likely indicates hard work and clever design ideas behind the scenes.
After years of renovations, the kitchen was the last room in this 100-year-old villa to be remodelled, and the owner wanted it to reflect the character of the house and match previously completed work.

Kumeu

This new kitchen, which was designed by Nicola Cumming Design, replaces a tired ’80s kitchen. Removing a hallway and adding new doors and windows to the outdoors has created a much larger, free-flowing space that maximises the link to an alfresco living area and pool terrace.
Nicola Cumming also elevated the role of the kitchen, making this much larger, so that the whole space works as a casual entertaining area for friends and family.

Mission Bay

A more traditional look was desired so panel doors with no mouldings were selected with a modern chrome cuplike handle. Benchtops have beautiful marble veining and out of the Corian Organics rangle which replicas the movement in natural stone but still having the seamless feature Corian does. Mirror drawers to match oven gives the illusion of a large double oven, and mirrored splash back opens up the kitchen and makes it look bigger. LED lighting accentuates the feature alcove and also necessary for tasks.

Devonport

Picked up architectural features in the home that were carried throughout the renovation. Such as the arches.

Again, the renovation was sympathetic with the style/age of the home.
